Excerpt from the SMALLVILLE Retrospective • Season 9 • Featuring Phil Morris (Narrator) and Brian Peterson (Producer)
PM: A counterpoint to the dark story of Zod was the escalating Lois and Clark romance and a tantalizing flash forward to the Metropolis and Lois Lane of 2013.
BP: What’s amazing to us is to watch each of the actors grow into their roles as much as their characters have their own arcs. And Erica—just episode by episode—became the Lois Lane we all know, and it was almost seamless. You don’t even feel like it’s happening. You just watch.

But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Let it burn while I cry
‘Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
When laying with you
I could stay there, close my eyes
Feel you here, forever
You and me together, nothing is better

Lois: Relax Smallville…keep the mystery. You need to work every last drop of it you’ve got.

and in my dreams it feels like we aren’t ever going to fall…
we’re safe and sound and we’re untouchable.
